Paint wearing on top of plastic trim ring.
Anybody else seeing something similar?
Nope...but you have had yours longer than most...
I'll bet that's where the back of your sytlus is rubbing the trim/bezel when everything is in the folio - I put the cleaning cloth over the pen to avoid this.
Now that you mention it, I think you're right. The scratches are where the front and rear of the pen extrude from the stretchy thing that holds it into the folio. The pen holder should cover the whole pen. It's scratching my beautiful slate. Some less-than-great design work there HP.
Yeah - I noticed a tiny dot there (scratch) and it definitely came from the pen. Now that I've used the cloth as a barrier it's been fine.

...Which is why I made the suggestion about making a pocket for the pen (rather than the loop) long ago...

Um yeah. Should have been built with an internal pen silo to begin with.
Whose dumb idea was that?
As long as we're griping about paint, has anyone else noticed the black paint rubbing off the edge of the back? No mystery about mine - it's right where I balance it in my left hand while surfing with my right. Still, annoying.
Yes, mine has those scratches too. Though mine are by the charging port, but mine isn't rotated in the case like most others here (I actually use the back camera).
Same here. I put my pen in with the tip pointing to the left and sure enough - the right side of the bottom of the slate is scratched up.
