Thirty-six years ago today, Jobs introduced the World to Macintosh - for $2495

    8 MHz Motorola 68000 Processor
    128k (yes, "K") ram
    400k floppy drive
    9" mono screen (512x342)
    2 serial ports
    Mouse

Today, we have MacBook Pro 16 - for $2399

    2.6GHz Intel 6-core i7
    16gb ram
    512gb SSD
    16" Retina Color (3072x1920)
AMD Radeon Pro 5300M graphics with 4gb GDDR6
    4 USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports
    WiFi
    Precision Trackpad

We can find equally unbelievable comparisons in the DOS/Windows world - but this illustrates the loss of perspective I constantly exhibit around here...

PS (that doesn't include the fact that $2495 in 1984 is worth $6171 today)

An even more appropriate comparison might have been the Osborne computer, which you've written about before...

I was at least trying to get us to a GUI screen - afraid green screens would scare everyone away...

I was actually just thinking the other day that my first tablet was a Motion le1600, made about 10 years ago. And now we have thinner, lighter, faster devices with bigger brighter screens, and we get 3-4 times the batter life and... what, 7 or 8 x the power? What we use in a laptop now is easily what a desktop was supposed to do in 2009. And new, it costs less too. LOL. And that's even in unadjusted dollars.

My first digital art setup was a Wacom tablet attached to a Pentium desktop using a CRT screen.

I feel like I can make better art using my Samsung Note 8 now compared to that.

And it never ceases to amaze me when you compare the difference in size and portability
