thanks for help.. here are some answers and other question :)

What OS do you have running on your machine?'
    windows vista premium 32bit.
if I simply turn it on and touch the screen it does not react. Is there a button I have to press before it or adjust something in the windows?

try using your fingernails instead of the finger surface..
I tried it many times but also nothing as if it were dead

I bought this tablet on ebay as a refurbished item. It is quite new!
    thanks

Not all tx1000 are touch screens, it's an option. The screen is pressure sensitive and doesn't use a digitalizer pen like some high end tablets. I have the tx1100 and it works great. You also have to practice on how to write on the screen so the tablet can learn. I set mine to a larger nib tip so the tablet can recognize lines better. Buying from eBay is 50/50 chance of getting what you expected. Refurbished is usually warranted for 90 days if bought from a store. If you bought from eBay then cross your fingers and hopefully the seller will take it back. Sometimes eBay is "as is".

Take a look at the device manager and see if touchscreen is there. I believe it's under HID. If you can't find it then you don't have a touchscreen.
