Koji Komatsu has been busy, with several SAI2 build updates since the beginning of May.

    Download the latest beta (2018-05-07):

Mostly just bug fixes since the April release, but it's good to see him on a roll! Hopefully he'll take on the challenge of adding touch features soon.

I wonder what sort of specialized feature sets he still has? There’s the super smooth experience of pen input, which was always stellar, and the double bmp map method of creating texture, but beyond that I feel like a lot has been canabalized by other software. ??

Right now, I just want an art program that interprets my pen input properly all the time.

I was going through this latest version; it needs a bunch of little GUI tweaks, (like the ability to set what the stylus button does). I'm betting the author has a grown up real job and this is very much a hobby for him. It's been 20 years since SAI was a going concern and he was living on ramen and dreams.

Isn't Krita way better than SAI at this point? And IIRC, Krita is tots free...

Krita is laggy and slow and irritating. -At least with every configuration and computer I've run it through. Good for the kids who like to draw at screen resolution, but for big canvases, it's a lumbering and bored beast.

    SAI is slick!

It just needs to be hauled into the 21st century by its WinXP lapels.

I'm not really holding my breath, but if and when it does, I'll be on board toot sweet.

I recently installed Krita on my T902 to test for someone and it was pretty damn smooth at 5000x3000 canvas...

Even higher than that for what it's worth.
It doesn't even uselessly hog the cpu anymore.
A pity the pen right button of the Galaxy Book didn't work with it and they stubbornly refuse to implement canvas rotation with fingers.

Huh. I've tried it three different times before, with three different releases, and it's been lousy each time.

But I just tried it again now (so I could make a video or something to show what I was talking about), and whaddayknow? It's as smooth as silk!

I don't know what was going on before, but it appears to have corrected itself.

Cool! I can recommend Krita now.

I also remember Krita being as ****ty and laggy as MediBang Paint not so long ago. All of the sudden it's super smooth. Crazy.
