I changed my user account name the other day and it messed up my setsfb activation in win 8. When I reinstalled only the old key would work in the end like with yours. Strange.

Loaded RTM W8 and can't get SetFSB to authorize again. Since I don't know what I did to get it to work last time I'm back to trial and erred.

I think the Atom CPU in the Q550 can not be overclocked. Sorry. It is a shame too, because it could use the power.

Can anyone help here? When I try running SetFSB (either free or paid without key) I select the proper clock gen (ICS9UMS9610BL) and click on Get FSB but all that happens is "SMBus Error".

    Any ideas?

I think it only works with the authorized Shareware version. That is the correct PLL.

It seems very strange if that was the case. What would the purpose of an eval be if it doesn't work? It does the same thing on the freeware edition too.

Also seems odd that an "SMBus Error" would be a result of not having an authorized version.

It's not that much money, but it's certainly not worth paying for something that doesn't work.

Any chance that the BIOS updates or something has messed it up?

If you're talking about the Slate 500 and not the Slate 2, I have the most recent bios and have no problem overclocking. The atom in the Slate 2 doesn't overclock.
