I discovered something new in OneNote MUI....ink is searchable now.....
You sure that's what's happening? In my experience, searching has never been the problem. It's indexing that is. So if I write something in the Modern / Metro version, and then later try to search, it won't find it. However, if that handwriting syncs to the desktop version on the same or a different PC, only THEN does the handwriting get indexed. If I then let that sync back down to the Metro version, then it'll be searchable there as well. To be honest, that's kind of useless to me, though that might be different for you.
(That being said, I have thought about just running the free version of OneNote 2013 on my server, using task scheduler to make sure it always opens even with no user logged in. Then, it would always be indexing all of my notes and that would sync down to other devices like the Metro app as well.)
So apparently, indexing of handwriting is now happening on the cloud. This gives the OneNote apps on all platforms the ability to search handwritten notes now:
I prefer Desktop, but I have noticed that you can capture and insert images into a note using your cam with the Metro application and not the Desktop one. That seems like an odd omission.
Don't worry, that feature is gone in the Windows 10 version.
Shouldn't it be a disappointment? I was hoping that the desktop gets that too.
Sorry, yeah, I was just being a little sarcastic. In my opinion that's the one nice feature of the Metro app, so it's terrible to see it go.
Why would they remove that? That seems like a very stupid change to make.
This one doesn't bother me at all because I've never really cared for it, but the other change that will be controversial is that the Windows 10 version doesn't have the radial menu.
Another reason not to switch from 8.1 to 10...
