The Universal Stylus Initiative ("USI") is an effort by a number of companies, including Wacom, Lenovo and others to standardize the stylus. http://liliputing.com/2015/04/unive...-to-simplify-your-choice-of-digital-pens.html Looks like the stylus is starting to come of age. Hopefully, the technology that is adopted is the best and there is no race to the bottom for the sake of universality. Interesting to see the discussion of styli for phones.

Interesting point. Something I never thought they'd do. So maybe some truth to that. Will be cool to see how this plays out.

Seems possible that this is the industry's response to Microsoft buying n-Trig and having good success with the Surface (and anticipating Apple doing an active stylus on ipad). They see a huge consolidation coming which will leave only a few dominant platforms standing so its better to band the remaining players together.

At any rate, if they do it right it could be good for tablet enthusiasts.

I would love this. I have so many Tablet PC pens, at this point with the introduction of the S3 in my arsenal, having a single well designed pen would be amazing.

We might even get something with the quality of the wacom cross pen stylus again.

This is really cool news. I hope it gains acceptance and momentum and that none of the key players grows petulant and feels the urge to cry, "I'm taking my toys and going home!"

The new wacom pen is already somewhat compatible with the synaptics tech. I saw an review where the hover feature worked on a synaptics tablet, but inking didnt work, still interesting.
