I have just received my Asus R1F, loving it so far.

The killer app for me was One Note 2007.

When I use the tool with the pen it crashes within 3 minutes.

Any thoughts on where the issue is?

    Hardware
    Vista
    Software app?

    thanks

    Mike

    "it crashes within 3 minutes"

    What crashes? OneNote or Vista?

You can also try opening Windows Journal and play with that for 3 minutes see what happens. If it stays up, you may just want to reinstall OneNote and make sure all your patches are up to date.

    Thank you for the reply.

    One Note crashes not Vista.

I did do a re-install, as my first attempt to address this.

It does not seem to be specific feature oriented, rather just using the Pen
on a page, causes the tool to access violate.

Not sure if there are any known issues with this - are other people using this
successfully? Would one think it is a HW issue, one note runs file if I am not using the Pen.

    any thoughts?

    thanks in advance

    Mike

as mentionned by alphaswift, what about other apps
Does Journal works fine with the pen for more than 3minutes
can you Ink in Word fine for more than 3 minutes
have you installed the office updates for 2007

    I misunderstood ...
    Journal doesn't start -
Ink in Word works great -
    Still crashes OneNote

    - I have asked for all updates ... I will reverify that.

How is Journal installed - as part of the OS or office - sorry for the stupid question...

Journal is a default app inside the Accessories folder.

....and don't worry about the questions, we've all been there.

I use OneNote 2007 all the time with the pen (almost never any other way) and have no issues.

yes, i have had issue with onenote 2007 before, when i was using its trial. what happened in my case is that the memory size of onenote started increasing to very high levels, this would basically freeze the computer. I couldn't figure out why that happened so i don't use it, (anyways journal is much simpler and easier!). I would suggest you start windows taskmanager along with onenote and see if the same thing happens with you i.e increases the memory size.

i would say a bigger issue in your case is journal not starting. i would suggest to start troubleshooting with that.

on a side note, one important thing, if with onenote, in your case it is the memory size getting bigger and bigger, try turning off windows automatic update and then restarting the computer and onenote. windows automatic updates is notorius for such problems, but usually only associated with problem with svchost.exe files. but try it.

I ended up re-installing the OS...

I then had an issue not being able to access a networked drive
    - BSOD everytime

    I called for help.

They suggested I uninstall the network interfaces and run a
    netsh winsock reset

    reboot

things seem to be working now!
