The active digititiser would still be there. Only the touch component would be removed.

Some good arguments here but I'd still vote to keep the touch.

I voted to remove the touchscreen part because the way I write with the pen, my wrist touches the screen and it "clicks" on the screen randomly.

I only use the notebook on tablet mode if I'm going to use the pen, if I'm just browsing around I use notebook style with a mouse. Much easier.

I'd get rid of the touch if it resulted in better viewing/durability by doing so. Also, if getting rid of touch means losing the bezel.. mmm, a larger screen!! ..Willy

ok honestly, i don't find the passive digitizer useless. if you haven't used it, you can't represent all of us.

i use the passive digitizer when i don't want to take out my stylus pen, and scroll down pages in a pdf file. I use the plastic part that covers my eraser on my lead pencil to scroll up and down the pages.

all i'm saying is that, it isn't completely useless. it makes my life that much more convenient. definitely, a multitouch mechanism would be freakin awesome, but price over a slightly useless property? i don't know.

eg. doing hmw, while looking through a pdf file that has the information that i need, i would just flip my pencil upside down, and use the plastic part and poke at the screen to scroll. it's wonderful.

FYI, you can disable the passive digitizer.

I'd keep the things as they are: active digitizer.. that's the attractive thing on a tablet, otherwise I'll buy a much more cheaper 12.1" device from, let's say, dell.

I paid like $1100 for a tx2032la just to have the touchscreen, most 12" without digitizer are far more cheaper than that.

Oh, and for the price, a firewire input and some kind of expansion port like expresscard or PCMCIA would be nice..

There is an expresscard/34 slot on the tx1000/2000/2500 series.

You mean the slot where the remote control goes? :-S

My tx2032la does not appear to have another slot?.. besides SD/MS card reader above that.

    csz,

That'd would be it, it's on the left side. The remote just piggybacks in there until the user needs the use of an ExpressCard does one need to remove it (or, as expected, to use the remote!). :)

I love how the scenario that had the least votes is the reality.

I would need to know what differences there are between the ntrig and wacom tablet drivers before I could make a decision.

My vote would be 2 or 3 depending on that^
