What happens when you take two obsessions and put them together into one thing? Honestly I am drooling here! As a seasoned guitarist who absolutely loves technology, I can't say anything else except "I have to have this". Intel and Fender have collaborated and created a concept Telecaster with a built-in HP TC1100 Tablet PC. How cool is that?

Although I personally play a Les Paul and ES300 (both Gibsons), I would be all over a Fender Tele with a Tablet PC literally enlayed into the back of the guitar - wow. If there are any guitar players reading this, you know the belt buckle syndrome and how we so easily mark up the back of our guitars when jamming on stage. This Tablet would need a hell of a screen protector!

So what can you do with this guitar besides just talk about it? Here are specific details:

The Intel Concept Telecaster guitar incorporates the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology and was developed to provide the ultimate in technology for music on the move. The guitar can be played when you want, wherever you want, allowing you to:

Plug in headphones and listen to your tunes through the built in amp
Record demo songs and email them to friends
Go online to find the chords to that song someone just requested
Stay in touch through email or Instant Messenger -- on stage or on the tour bus
Conduct webcam interviews with friends or fans
Download your favorite tunes and just listen - or play along

This Telecaster guitar contains a Hewlett Packard TC1100 tablet laptop with 1.25ghz RAM and an Echo Indigo I/O soundcard for maximum fidelity.

Keep and eye out for more information at the Fender website.[/li]

Actually the Telecaster has a relatively lightweight body as is. I would guess that even with the addition of the tablet (minus some wood) that it stills weighs less than a standard or custom Les Paul. The downer though might be a loss of tone. I don't think you can classify any guitar body as "AAA" quality wood once you've cut a big gaping hole to fit this TC1100.

Don't feel bad Dustin. Just look at the review I did on that machine last summer. I loved it!
