One of the greatest features in early OneNote (IMO) was handwritten outlines. This was in the early days of M$ trying to grapple with images vs. text vs. ink.

You would turn on outlining, and each line you handwrote would get the next number in the outline sequence. If you started a line further to the right than the one above it, ON recognized that as an indented line and sub-numbered those lines. You could collapse the outline to levels, change indention by dragging, and drag to reorder lines and the numbering automatically kept up with the changes.

Long since "deprecated" (perhaps "sacrificed" is a better term) in the name of recoding efficiency. Now we have "containers" and ink that doesn't stay stuck with the underlying image. Some interface.

    "D@MN the users, version ahead!!!"

I made a rather snarky comment about that on the original blog post. I got a reassurance that they are taking that seriously (in a very roundabout way with no commitments - naturally).

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't trust anyone who designs the UI and feature sets at Microsoft any more.
