Got mine today. All seems well apart from some slight cracking along the edges, but I can't find any utility for moving recovery to SD. Anyone know what it is called?

I found a utility on the downloads page at Toshiba.com, but pretty much all it does is launch Windows' integrated utility that can only move to USB drive.

I have formatted ntsf in order to have Skydrive there.

Google tells me some people can see their MicroSD card in "Create a recovery drive", but it doesn't show for me for some reason. Odd.

According to the device manual, "Recovery via microSD is not supported." It only talks about using a flash drive via an OTG cable. (Not that the device manual is necessarily fully accurate, but it's at least an indication that that was the intent.)

I found this video on YouTube. Might help with what you want to do.

64-Bit Version of Windows 8.1 for Latest Intel Atom Processors Won't Be Available until Next Year

Also, Running 64-bit OS that 4 GB of RAM is at least, which limited to a 4 GB of Max Memory Size is not ideal.

I've created encore owners lounge and posted a method there on how to update graphics drivers so to have screen mirroring.

Thanks, that might work. Shouldn't have to though since moving recovery to USB obviously works without making the drive appear non removable.

stuck my new encore in to charge, only got it today, so the battery was dead.
It still wasn't charged come bedtime, so I took it to bed to charge and play with.

The battery was at 80% when I took it to bed. Been playing with it for about an hour, and the battery is now at 58%. It is discharging whilst being used, even though it is plugged in and says it is charging.

Is this normal? A massive design fault if it is.
