There was a poster a while back who indicated that the Slate 2 felt faster. However ships10 and revmike were able to installer faster and larger SSDs into their 500s which they said also made the slate feel much faster. If the Slate 500 had the same i/o and ssd as the slate 2, the slate 500 would be better in every way i believe. (The slate 2 is supposed to have a reworked power switch as well)

I wonder what is the best way to increase the speed of the slate:
    1. Faster processor...eg overclocking?
    2. Increased front side bus speed ...as in the slate 2 and overclocked slate 500?
    3. Larger and faster SSD as rev and I have done?
Even if the FSB and a better /faster ssd is installed in the slate 2...would it be faster and better than an overclocked slate 500 with a newer /larger/faster ssd?
For example the slate 2 has a faster ram, faster FSB and a faster ssd but the bottleneck could be the slower cpu(and not overclockable)...Z670...making it slower than the slate 500....true or not ?

Slate 2 Product Messaging on SSD:
The updated mSATA SSD technology delivers strong disk performance through faster transfer rates. In fact, it provides up to 2.5 times faster data transfer rates than the previous HP Slate. Professionals can benefit from faster boot times and better multi-tasking capabilities on the HP Slate 2.

Is this technology embedded in the ssd or the motherboard/mSATA connection? Is the mSATA connection 3gb/s or 6gb/s in the slate 2?
From my reading and looking at the ssd in the slate 500 , it is an adata ssd
half slim type. It's specs are not as impressive as my new 128 gb ssd.
Infact the read/write speeds are about 2-3 times faster in the 128gb ssd.
Could this be the difference in the new msata ssd in the slate 2? Or is the ssd in the slate 2 a SLC type?

I am still not convinced that the Z670 can't be clocked.

I agree. The right quantity just has not gotten into the right hands yet. About another year and we will have the ability and a driver for the PowerVR GPU so we can load Linux!

I hope you are right. I am just going by what I have read so far in the forums.
Cos if it is clockable, would that not be nice?

Hi, I am a new slate 2 owner and wanted to thank everyone for their insights. Does anyone know if you can upgrade the memory in the slate 2?

I doubt it. Since it is very similar to the original, and that was a no to upgrading memory.

No, it can't ...the memory is embedded into the motherboard....not a removable memory stick .
    I know....not fair...lol.
