It will almost certainly use the new AMD mobile platform by the name of Tigris, which means:
    1. 45nm CPU based off the Phenom II (a good thing)
    2. 55nm chipset based off the 785G (very disappointing, should be a genuine 80 shader 4xxx series GPU)
    3. DDR2 (annoying as DDR3 is more power efficient, and in theory faster)
    4. AMD 710 southbridge (neither here nore there)
    5. OpenCL support in the drivers (awesome, but crippled by 40 shader limit)

I hope it will have the following:
    a. 11.6" capactive screen (possible given they are cheaper to produce)
    b. Smaller chassis (only way i can forgive AMD for the aneamic GPU bump in Tigris)

It's unknown since the Tigris platform hasn't been released yet. :)
Since AMD is transitioning from 65nm to 45nm it is likely that it will run cooler, what the exact temperature decrease is, however, is unknown.

I'm hoping that we get another AMD platform computer.

my apologies but I simply hate intel integrated graphics, and if this series went with Intel there would be no doubt that they would use their cheap integrated graphics.

after all my buddy just got a brand new dell, and my (almost 2 year old series) tx kicks that Dell's butt in any game we tried.

but then again I don't mind the heat much, and my computer apparently was bought with the small deformation and HP said it was nothing to worry about.

    AMD+ATI for the win,
    -Tyler

HP did a lot right and a lot wrong when they rolled out the TX series.

The point is that they are designed with the avervage consumer in mind.

So Price and Preformance take priority over all else. Whatever they do different in this new "TM2" It's a safe bet that they won't betray this fundemental distinction.

i just don't understand how the Intel CPU could drive up price that much more...they have $400~$500 notebooks with intel processors...are you trying to tell me that the wacom digitizer alone is ~$700?

or at the very least give consumers the option like they do with their other consumer notebooks.

My sister plays guitar hero 3 on her toshiba laptop (I don't know at the moment what intel graphics she has) and it plays with an acceptable frame rate with all the settings on low. Have you tried gh3 or higher or a similar game on your tx? How does it run? I just can't bring myself to run it on my tx because it goes up to 190F when I do graphic intensive stuff.

I don't expect the new model will be better built nor price competitive

If it comes with an Intel CPU I hope it's not the ATOM! The i7 would make it out of reach for many for it'll be on the expensive side. A Phenom would be nice and SSD.. yea!

Oh man, I definitely hope its not the atom; talk about garbage. I don't understand why they promote a new processor that is slower than one I got 4 years ago. Sure it uses less power but then just let us underclock a faster processor when we need to.
