    There is a new driver available on Gateways site for the media card reader. I don't know if it improves the problems that some report of it not reading the larger SD cards.

    Sweet! My card reader now recognizes and reads my 8 gig mini-sdhc card, so it should read all sdhc cards. Awesome upgrade.

    I haven't run into any problems as of yet, but noticed the performance of the card reader not so jazzy compared to the USB. I've the E-155C. The driver version is 2.0.0.9 or something like that. The latest for my specific model is .7. The driver link you posted does not include my particular model. Without delving into components, blah, blah, blah, will it work?

    Thanks.

    Awesome post. This solved the issue with the x64 install of vista unrecognizing the device, i.e. my post Mass Storage Control Unknown a week ago.

    I did instal the new driver, and the newer version number 2.0.0.9 did show up in my device manager. However, there is always an extra SD controller in my device manager which can not be easily got rid of.
    It is called:
    SD host adapters
    -----> SDA Standard Conpliant blah...
    what can I do?

    That belongs there.

    Has the memory card reader ever worked? Have you tried different types of cards such as Memory Stick?

    Thank you for your fast reply! I remember it worked before with some smaller cards like 512 mb ones.
    My symptome is that there is no card showing up at all in my computer.
