Finally got the update. After mucking with the live update download and log folder I think I corrupted something so I couldn't install the update even when I downloaded it from POST#3. Long story short, I ended up doing a "reset windows to default", and then liveupdate updated to 1.19, and grabbed the update no problem. Hopefully the rest of you have better luck. I'm off to enjoy my vivotab ...hopefully with no more major issues.

    Log entries are as follows:
    [ASUS Driver Install Start]
    22/02/2013 1:37:54.64

    Install Intel Driver Start ...
Insatll Inter Drive Done with 9009

Error happened during Driver Packing Installing!!
    22/02/2013 1:37:54.91
    [ASUS Driver Install End]

Guessing I might have to do a full restore and start again....

Perhaps. There'll be a log from the Intel installer next to it. It'll give you a more detailed description of the error.

Today I had my first hung after sleep with the new drivers :(. After pressing the Power button 4 sec. the tablet started, but trackpad was dead and even the touch! The only thing that worked was the keyboard, I even tried dock and undock without success! This is even worse than Before the update. At least touch Always worked with the older drivers.

I starting to get really bored with this piece of c**t. Wating 3 month for driver update, and when it comes it's not working:mad:.

I Always been an PC fan before, but maybe I should just throw this garbage away and go and buy an "sheap" IPad insted, I can't remember when my 1 gen IPad hung last time!

    Sorry for bad English...

I had hanging issues before this, esp. when I was adding new language packs without rebooting, windows updates have also caused such issues too and my Laptop sometimes does this when plugging in an SD card. I can not help the feeling that Windows 8 was mighty rushed to the market but things are starting to look up... slowly.

    @beachman
Why did you get a windows tab in the first place if you think an iPad can do? Then again comparing it to a 1gb OS that relies 90% on web apps and still can't multitask is not exactly fair but since it's made by Apple I'm frankly surprised it didn't freeze or stop working for you.

Well, did a quick restore and still no connection with Live Update,

Then did a full restore, deleting everything took about 40 mins to re-build. Guess what - still no connection -

Have tried deleting logs, dropping zip file into download and running live update - no luck

Have tried running the install file direct as admin - nope.

Running out of ideas now :(

Have you tried another router or access point?
Maybe the update service is down again.

You could run the update manually but I couldn't tell you with what .bat/.exe to start it since if haven't tried that myself, but if you read back a little someone mentioned it.

It's the install.cmd that needs to be run. Make sure you right click it and run it as Administrator! That's what LiveUpdate executes:

    Code:

You can see it runs everything contained within the .zip. All of the .exe's it runs with the '-s' argument so you will not see any dialog windows. The best way of checking if it's done is by looking at the log it creates:

    C:\Windows\Logs\ASUSDriverInstall.log

If it's installed successfully, restart your Tablet :)

EDIT: Also note that if you have the keyboard dock, make sure you connect this before you update your drivers (in any method). It updates the drivers for the touchpad and keyboard, but if it's not connected it won't update the drivers if it doesn't see the device. So dock your tablet first.

I Think all the stability issues is connected to driver issues (lets hope it's not hardware), I have run Win8 on my work PC since the release and newer had a singe bluescreen or hung. But ofcource, my work pc does not have connected standby and all the other cool new hardware that this tablet comes with...

Sorry, I had not eat for I while and was excited over the new drivers and the hung come as an anti climax.
Yeah, I know I cant compare apples with pears. I really like the idea having a real PC in tablet format, thats why I want a Windows tablet. But my point is that I rather have an simple apple that works then a pear with Everything that does not work.

The stabaility is better with the newer drivers, Before update the sleep issues happened everytime now i't only happened once for the last 24h, but its faar from rock solid. Lets wait Another 3 months and see if it's getting better ;)...

After the Asus Live update, I made sure to install the 300mb+ Windows updates as well(took about an additional 1-2 hours of waiting). So far I haven't had any issues. For me, the Sleep issue, went away when Microsoft released the updates last week, but others reported that it didn't help them. If you haven't already, I would at least give it a try before giving it up.

Upload your ASUSDriverInstall.txt AND IntelAtomz2760Drivers.txt file and we'll see what's going wrong :)

I did the same and it was worthless too, Yesterday morning at least when I clicked on the Liveupdate icon the program opened and let me click on the download button until the 6kb was downloaded. Since yesterday midday when I click on the LiveUpdate icon I get a "Cannot connect to server" popup and nothing else, even after doing a full Windows restore . And I can't even install it unzipping and running install.cmd, because when I do that in cmd this is what I get:

That's it I can't even install using that method, only errors and the drivers even didn't try to install.
Does anyone have a clue about this?

For what it's worth, my machine has been super stable over the last couple days. On and off the dock, meetings, work, discharge to ~60% and recharge two nights in a row -- I haven't had to reboot since day before yesterday and it appears to be performing marvelously. I hate to jinx anything, but it's sure looking good so far.

Are you right clicking that and running it as an Administrator, Tonitti? That will explain your 'Access Is Denied' if not.

If you are, try running it in an elevated command prompt.

Yup, yes. That's the first thing I tried after trying to open it normally.

EDIT: one second, something is happening...

EDIT2: I think they somehow installed when I tried what you said, an elevated command prompt and then run install.cmd from there; the hard disk usage showed activity. At the beginning I got the "The system couldn't locate the key or the specified Registry value." maybe because "ASUSDriverInstall.log" was still not created?

The whole process took around 5 minutes, I have to check If I see some changes, at the moment the Graphics driver version updated to:

    Driver Version 9.14.3.1117
    Operating System Windows 8 (6.2.9200)"

Before restoring I have been using the latest HP drivers (9.14.3.1102) and the somehow newer Asus drivers that were posted briefly at the beginning of this thread (9.14.3.1099)
I'm going to restart now, I suppose that Wacom Wintab drivers will not be updated, but I'll check.

EDIT3: No, still no pressure in Wintab applications, I guess we will have to wait for Wacom's part.

Try executing the Install.cmd from an Elevated Prompt. To do this: Search for 'cmd' and run this as Administrator. You'll know if you're definitely in Admin mode as the title bar will have 'Administrator:' on the start and it'll put you in the C:\Windows\system32 directory unlike the normal prompt which puts you in your user folder.

Once you're at the elevated prompt, change to the directory which Install.cmd is in and run it in the prompt. That should solve the issue.

galtom, download the drivers from the second post of this thread (they're newer) and follow my instructions above. It should solve your Access is denied issue.

I did run Install.cmd form command prompt - it did not worked :-(
So, are you saying that Asus send me their old drivers toda? :) LOL! Good one Asus!

I'll try with drives you refer me to - will let you know.

Just checked the versions - it is same stuff as on second page of this thread: DriverPackage_2_1_0_5.zip

Make sure it's an elevated prompt. It won't work otherwise.

No, it's not supposed to find anything. When you install the Intel SOC drivers, it makes a note of the version number in the registry. These, for example are version 0x35. There's bit of code in the .cmd file which makes sure this version hasn't been installed before. It it finds that value, it'll abort the install due to the second line of this code:

    Code:
    reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Intel\SOCPackageInfo /v VersionNumber | findstr "0x35"
    if %errorlevel%==0 goto SkipIntel
Were you to run it again, it would now find this value and abort.
