Basically I need a cheap used laptop that I can sketch on in photoshop and illustrator (will probably be using CS2) with a pressure sensitive pen. I design greetings cards/stationary and prints and would like to be able to do so on the go... I would like to also run the laptop in my studio in addition to my iMac as a second device hooked up with a Bosto Kingtee 19 so will need to be able to hook that up with a VGA/DVI or HDMI cable.

Looking to spend about £300 so looking at secondhand/eBay.

    Thanks for your help.

I think any of the 6 tablets listed by this used PC vendor could easily cover your sketching and note-taking. Not certain what the battery life is for each, but I'm fairly sure that the ones with low voltage CPUs will last some hours on a charge. And while, I don't know if the vendor will ship to the UK but you can certainly use this as a reference for a nearby supplier.

    That's great!!!

Those are coming up so cheap in the UK it's ridiculous!! I can afford to spend upto twice that....

Can anyone recommend any with slightly better spec. (More RAM, faster CPU, lighter weight etc??)

    Most appreciated....

Any of a host of used tablet pc's with Core2duos will do fine. The Lenovo x200t, HP 2730p, or Fujitsu t5010 will all do fine, are all capable of running 3-5 hours, are core2duo's and can take up to 8 gb ram. These should all be in your price range too. Good luck!
