I was using it last night/early this morning and the screen went blank, I could only see the back light, pressing the power button put the device to sleep and it came back to the welcome screen and then it would start to flicker and tear. It even teared and had artefacting during boot (black windows splash screen) I promptly set about to backing up Noticed that I couldn't view the Windows Update page, also stopped being able to open the start menu. At some point towards the end of rhe backup, It was back to the back light only. Closed the device and went to bed. This morning all I get out of it is the windows logo screen can't even seem to get to the BIOS. Keyboard lights up... When I put in a USB it appears to read from it but the screen remains dark Sent from my SM-N9600 using Tapatalk
Don't have any monitors here... Definitely thought of that though.. Le sigh Sent from my SM-N9600 using Tapatalk
Well that sucks... One quick suggestion to try, no promises, but it was something MS has had us try with some success. Connect your ac adapter to the unit, but not the wall. Try to power it up to whatever state it's in then let it sit for at least six hours with the adapter connected to the unit but not the wall. Apparently there is some low level stuff that occurs over the surface port connector even when the device is "off" No promises, but it has worked with a couple of our devices and is minimal risk. Good luck regardless.
Thank you! Will try that and update the post... @JoeS working on getting a monitor Sent from my SM-N9600 using Tapatalk
I had kind of already come to that conclusion. I had already made up my mind that my next device had to be modular... Capable of at least some repairs... Currently looking to see what's out there... Currently exploring the Dell Latitude 7210, will check out Lenovo and HP's options next. Sent from my SM-N9600 using Tapatalk
May I direct you to the 45% discount on last year's X1 Yoga 4th gen? Looks like there aren't any nagging issues like with the 3rd gen.
