I thought so. Switch feels tighter. The only thing I had to replace was the screen protector. I guess they had to remove it and they made an attempt to put it back on, but I was going to replace soon anyway.

I have had the power switch break twice on my HP Slate. The first time it was covered under warranty and literally in 2 days i had my hp 500 back. The second time however, the warranty no longer covered the unit, and i have the exact same problem with the power switch. design flaw for sure...

it cost me $100 sometime to have it repaired.... whatever... at least they did it quickly...... just frustrated that its the same problem i had about 8 months ago......

    i feel your pain.....

Can you detail how you did it and take pictures. Mine just broke, I leave in Europe, and warranty ended.

    Just two questions :
does the slate 2 have (potentially) the same issue?
    is the button the same?

Although the Slate 2 has a redesigned power button, I had that "improved" button installed in my slate 500 and it still feels delicate.

Does this mean that they can put the slate2 button on a slate 500?
I ask you the question because in France HP does not support Slate 500, but support slate2 .

What do you mean by delicate?

It feel loose in its track and has some wiggle. I am always careful with it because it feels like it won't take much abuse.

    Thanks for the answer.
Can someone explain me with photos how to continue to switch on and off when it is broken?
Because if Rick does not help me to convince HP France to use button of the slate 2, it will stay broken.
