So I've upgraded my S3 to W10 but at some point explorer crashed hard and i wasn't able to open the start menu anymore. And the task bar icon for the keyboard disappeared in the process too. So I forced a restart and since then my keyboard icon is gone. Since I haven't bought a type cover yet, I can't type anything. How do I get the icon back?

Alright, I'll try that if it reoccurs, once I've upgraded again. Will Microsoft update the recovery image to W10? Having to downgrade to 8 then back up to 10 when something goes awry will get old quickly....

Once you're upgraded and activated the key is tied to your machine, you should be able to use the media creation tool to make an iso and do a clean install.

Thank you for that. And how do I change the password lock timeout to immediate? Currently if doesn't ask for a password after I wake the screen up and I couldn't find the option in the control panel.

right click on desktop go to personalize, go to lock screen along the left side, choose screen saver settings, Choose a screensaver, the appropriate timeout and check on resume display logon screen.
