You don't believe Samsung thinks that is a given?

Off course they don't, judging by some of their latest efforts. Doesn't the Note 8 start to have battery problems? You'd think they'd learn from Note 7 debacle.

No battery problems with my Note 8 as yet - something going on I haven't heard about?

Some folks have been unable to charge after battery is fully discharged.

That specific bit of the fantasy is implied simply by calling it the Galaxy “Note” X.......instead of just Galaxy X......since it’s unlikely Samsung would attach the Note moniker to any device without an S-pen.

It is referred to in the Neowin article as the Galaxy X. Hopefully, it's a note.

Thanks, wasn't aware of the charging issue for some - hope the bug doesn't bite me.

Noticed you used to have a Newton MessagePad - I still have one and it still works!

Yeah, mine still worked last time I powered it up --- really wish Apple would make a meaningful replacement for it --- guess arguably the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is (despite not being from Apple) --- I just can't bring myself to commit to the monthly bill (for myself --- my wife and kids all have phones). An iPod Touch which would work with the Apple Pencil would be fine for me.

This charging issue has been around since the Note 5 was released. I encountered it once when I ran the battery out. I haven't done that since.

I sit here smugly next to my Note Edge.*

I'm not interested unless they license Wacom EMR pen technology or come up with something equal to it.

*Which definitely hasn't been dropped several times and randomly conked out several more. At least for some of the conked out times I could just take the battery out.
