<<...I'm not sure how they will handle it...>>

    ...By using USB-2?

Yeah I should have clarified. The problem isn't that they draw too much power per se, but that a lot of drives aren't fully spec compliant and don't properly "handshake" for lack of a better term with the host computer. e.g. they don't answer properly when they get queried on power requirements and the host system then denies the device connection.

Big Caveat to the above, that specifically is what's happening on IOS. Mac and Windows do handle some things slight differently but there is also much the same.

Perhaps you can get this Lenovo instead of a Surface? hehe

But you won't get more than 2 ports on it - must be thinner than last one!

    And here I am still on a work-issued ancient Surface 3. I'm a simple office-drone :)

(In fact I have 2 more work-issued laptops: a T460 & an Elitebook but they are docked permanently on my Tokyo-office desk)

Man I hope this is true. I'm really hoping for MS to wow me again like they did with the original surface pro, which I ordered, sight unseen as soon as it was available.

Plus it would be good for the industry too. Apple and Samsung have had the "cool products " spotlight for way too long a period now
