Have you thought of starting a museum instead? :D

I have thought about adding the 3 or so missing models and then maintaining the collection, but topping off the batteries has become cumbersome.
As for the abilities of the older models, you would be surprised how well they perform both as ereaders and as digital notebooks.

Looks like Onyx will be releasing a large e-ink tablet.

Yep, just like Onyx' predecessor, the Onyx Boox Max Monitor/Carta seems to use the same screen as the recently upgraded Sony Reader. Since Sony switched the digitizer from EMR to AES I wonder if the Onyx will be the same. It can already be preordered. The sad thing though, just like any other device with a big e-ink screen it is prohibitively expensive at 700-800 bucks... :(

Didn't they have a 9.7" version with a pen before? I would prefer that to the 13" model.

Those were the Onyx Boox M96 /N96 models. But the price for that is also similar to your S3.

The thing is, for something with such limited functionality/usage scenarios, the expense can hardly be justified. If these 10-13" e-ink devices cost half as much, which still wouldn't be cheap, I would already have one...

Yea. I'm just looking for something to let me read by the pool in the summer.

For "passive/no-pen" reading without annotating something by the pool, maybe the Kobo Aura One, a standard waterproof e-ink reader (cheaper) with at least 7.8"?

Reading to a lawyer means having access to a highlighter and annotation. I normally read cases and make margin notes on the highlighted portions of the case. So, I'm looking for a 9.7" penabled e-ink reader that is cheap enough to use by the pool and not worry about an occasional splash.

Yeah sorry, I think that will be a lengthy search akin to Indy looking for the Holy Grail...
