Ubuntu 9.04 now supports Wacom tablets naively according to their website! No more messing around with xorg.conf files!

You can download the RC using the following link.

EDIT: Even during the install my 2710p's pen works without any changes being made :D

Ubuntu works fine using 8.10, just now 9.04 makes is a bit easier (and safer) to get your tablet working.

Unfortunately it does not have a Input Panel, and i don't have the knowledge to get SHIP working correctly yet. Basically Ubuntu (tablet feature wise) is slightly worse then XP TE, but once ship is working it will be about the same as XP (but hopefully better).

    well yes, I realize this
but anything to make it easier is great
and I'm sure it can only get easier from here
I've seen people using 8.10 on a tablet but they seemed to have to do a bunch of adjustments before anything would work at all

    what's SHIP?

bah, you get my hopes up. I installed Ubuntu 8.10 64bit on my second disk and I don't have any tablet functions. I'll have to look into this later (BTW I'm typing this from within Ubuntu).

Is this an issue of 32 vs 64bit do you think?

Great to hear that they finally do something for us tablet PC users :)

@TabbedOut: You'll need version 9.04, which will be released in 3 days. Kpvic is just ahead of the times.

*Edit: I must have looked at the original post at least 4 times. I cannot believe that the difference in versions didn't register in my head*
