    Hi all,

Stumbled on this bargain tablet. It's a good £400-500 saving than it should be and yet a new model! Available from a few retailers.

    http://www.it247.com/Product/7057-N...NcSAZwwLpU9&cktime=70404&cart=8861061&whence=
    http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...Id=11105&NavigationKey=11105,4294952970,50600
    https://lifecycle.scc.com/supply/catalogue/productDetail.aspx?spn=LNVSUJ61&sid=1

And google the part number (NRSEMUK) for other retailers!

Specs: Tablet PC, Centrino 2, 1.86Ghz CPU, 2GB RAM, 200GB 7200rpm HDD, LED screen (1280x800), Touchscreen, Vista Business, a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Fingerprint reader, 1.3 Mp webcam, 8-cell (up to 10.3 hr) battery, 3G mobile (Vodafone), 3 year warranty.

    Lenovo/IBM details page: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/ie/products....Agent&brand=THINKPAD&series=ThinkPad+X+Series

Why a bargain if it's available for about the same price at multiple retailers?
Well, it should be £400-500 more expensive going by other configurations of the same machine!

    Catch?
    (i) It's localised for Germany. Shouldn't be a biggie though since Windows can be changed to English easily, documentation can be obtained in English electronic format, though the keyboard is a little different (see below)
(ii) It could be a mistake by Lenovo (owner of the IBM consumer PC brand) supplying the wrong product specs

Any one willing to risk it?

Update: As a comparison see here - http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...rchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=50600 - difference is 200GB HD vs 250GB, 8 cell battery vs 4 cell, German vs UK and a £500 saving!

Typical German keyboard layout appears to be: http://carbon.cudenver.edu/~tphillip/GermanKeyboardLayout.html

Indeed, if it is true it is a great deal. I will try to call them to verify which screen this model has. But it sounds too good to be true. And if it has the non-LED screen then it is not a good deal. (The non-LED screen has 190 nits, even lower than the (crappy) screen of my thinkpad R61i)

Corrected the specs page url. You will see it lists the screen as "WVA WXGA LED TFT MultiTouch + MultiView" and "LED Backlight". That's the best info you'll get; highly doubt a retailer would know anymore than their web page shows.

Oddly lenovo page doesn't mention TrackPoint(!), webcam or 3G though the retailer's pages do.

Remember you've got the 7-day distance selling regs on your side. Though that would mean you'd have to pay return postage if it's not what you want. You could only ask for the postage to be refunded if it doesn't match the description the retailer gives.

Hello, the only difference between the two dabs.com pages you have posted seems to be the harddisk vs SSD?

    Thanks.

Thanks mohakem, seems the page has changed slightly now. It now states UK as opposed to German localization.

Battery and HDD size are still different in the detailed specs. Title of the cheap one though states a 64GB SSD but lists a 200GB HD in the detailed specs!

And if it does prove to have a SSD then it's an even bigger bargain!

The fact that in the title says 64GB SSD and in the specs says 200GB HDD does not inspire confidence. It makes buying from them a matter of luck. Who would spend ~1000£ without being sure what he is going to get? :-(

    hello,

i'm from Germany. Sorry for my bad English. Any new information? I have found an ebay member, who is selling a lenovo x200 tablet very cheap.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IBM-Lenovo-Th...H?hash=item230315737571&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&
    _trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Could anyone tell me, why the shops only sell their products to UK addresses??? Or has anyone an idea how i can buy them?

    best regards

In my experience it's actually not that uncommon for large retailers/warehouses to have conflicting info! I would assume it's actually a 64GB SDD since it appears in the title, the detailed specs are likely to be a cut n paste. Either way it's a bargain (thou still a lot of money to risk - make sure to pay by Credit Card, thou Dabs are a pretty good retailer on the whole).

Myself, I've decided to go with the Toshiba; couldn't justify the extra cost of the Lenovo even with the discount (and prefer the stronger CPU). Remember the X200 dock is £140 on top.

Also, found a place doing the M750-10K (next model up from what I was originally considering) for just £861! That's about a £300 discount, and less than the 10J model! Have just ordered it and fingers-crossed picking it up tomorrow. My Dad has also said he'd like a video camera so using the Toshiba accessories offer to buy that. If it turns out fine then I'll post the details in a new thread to assist others.

bighotgigi: Have you tried googling the part number (NRSEMUK) as I found a number of UK retailers stocking it? Perhaps one will ship to Germany?

UPDATE: The Dabs page has changed again! It's now confirmed as definitely a 200GB HDD fitted.

I already wrote emails to 4 different sellers. Til now dabs, scc and BT-shop answered.
I also tried to register. But registration is only possible with UK address.
