I know what you mean. I seem to be typing this from from an Asus VivoTab. Crazy!

10.1" is too small for a useable keyboard anyway.

I'm with you on this, I just placed an order for the VivoTab TF810. I had narrowed down my choices to the TF810 and the TPT2, and had settled on the TPT2 but the delays are just too much. I don't have much confidence that the TPT2 will ship by the end of the month. I was really looking forward to having a new tablet for the holidays.

Also, I agree on the keyboard dock. I was thinking more and more about what makes a Windows 8 tablet great for convergence, and a small cramped keyboard with an optical touchpoint is going to be frustrating, especially at a fixed viewing angle. Add the fact that the ASUS dock has the extra battery and that NFC/GPS are also standard and it seals the deal for me.

Things I'm going to miss however: 10.1" form factor, the pen silo and the USB port on the tablet.

I've got a temp authorization on my credit card corresponding to the amount of my TPT2 order. Not sure how recent the auth is though. Could've been today or weeks ago, I haven't monitored my account that often.

Anyone else have a temp credit auth?

Where did you order from? How much did it set you back?

I cancelled both of my orders for the TP2. I am tired of playing Lenovo's distribution games. They always release a product and then make it available about 2 to 3 months later. I ordered the Envy X2 and it will be here tomorrow. I feel better about the all aluminum build quality and the actual clamshell closeable design that includes a battery in the keyboard as well. The keyboard will be larger than the TP2 and the battery life will be better, plus there is a Micro SD and Full size SD slot so I can expand the storage up to 256GB which you can't do on any other ATOM Hybrid. If I don't like the HP then I will send it back and order the ASUS 810, but I am done dealing with Lenovo. Good luck with those who want to keep waiting. You might see them by the end of Jan. You could have a Surface Pro by then.

Better battery life? How big is the Envy X2's battery?

Not sure why the poster equates the Envy with the pro, two different tools for 2 different needs.

Anyway to answer your question, we don't know, HP havent released that spec anywhere that I can see, I did note though on the Aussie website it details the battery testing process extensively and they arrived at 10.5 hours on the tablet and 19 hours with the dock so same as the Asus 810 which would equate to the same 30Whr battery as all of them. Also interesting that the US site says 7 hours.

I suspect its just the difference in testing, the 10.5 hrs from the aussie website isn't very realistic, screen set to 60nits+autodim+no wifi etc.

I'm a person that owned the TPT 1 and noticed a OS update date slip, so after the first delay, and with terrible support reps, I felt best to cut ties with lenovo and get a samsung ativ 500t for me it's a laptop replacement, that has the same specs and cheaper that the TPT 2 I've had it since 10/30 with minor complaints and no real issues..so why wait forever when there is a good alternative out!!!

Even Samsung you are refering to had major problems updating its tablets to latest OS/Builds. That useless Android is not easy to deal with. Just look the low percentage of the devices that has been updated too Jelly Bean.

The issue seems to be on the part of Intel and the delays in creating drivers for Windows 8.

Intel's problems have created lots of grief for Microsoft and the launch of Windows 8. The Atom tablets should have been in wide availability on Oct 26, but other than Asus and Samsung, we have nothing.

I am confident that Microsoft is considering AMD for the Surface 2 as a warning to Intel.

I thought the Surface RT was that warning.

I don't think MS wants to abandon ARM tablet market....

My order pushed back to 17th.

Their discussion is about AMD not ARM.

Not yet, at the least. The leaked information indicates RT2 still uses ARM cpu.

Model/Item No. 367923U is now listed on Amazon: ThinkPad Tablet 2 10.1-inch 64 GB

Note the processor: 1.8 GHz Apple A4

Hmm no pen, likely no digitizer either.

"The optional ThinkPad® Tablet 2 Digitizer & Pen offers a precision tip with pressure sensitivity. The active digitizer in the panel turns off touch when the palm rests on the display, for effortless writing and drawing."

I'm not seeing a pen silo in any of the pics.

Edit: yep confirmed on lenovos site, no digitizer/pen.

While my order still saying that its gonna be in Toronto on 17th Dec, one of the reps spilled the beans about very highly possibilty of push back to late Jan.
