The listing was removed from provantage a couple weeks ago.

The only model listed at the MStore is 367926U. I purchased 367927U. I believe the only difference is the latter comes with win8 Pro instead of standard edition.

I wanted pro for the additional security features including bitlocker. However, i suspect turning bitlocker on might result in a significant performance hit. More so for these tablets with eMMC memory than a computer with a standard hard drive. We'll see.

I'm assuming you paid $749? I couldn't see it being higher than that seeing that the basic to pro upgrade is what, 60 or 70 bucks.

I'm going to order it so my friend can bring it to me. He will leave Toronto on 31 Dec. Where should I order it to ensure that he will claim it before 31th ? ( otherwise I have to wait till summer!!! )
Is DirectDial good enough ? How about PCCanada ?

$725. The price was fluctuating between that and about $750. Costcentral has it for $740 with free shipping (and probably no taxes depending on your loc). Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 3679 (367927U) - Handhelds

Sweet, TYVM. I'd rather the pro, I use remote desktop a lot so that works.

You can also buy the Windows 8 Pro upgrade at a discounted rate from Microsoft - its only $40 at the moment.

Is there a way to get that to work with a basic Windows upgrade to Pro? Or I'm assuming I'm better off buying the $40 upgrade and completely reinstalling windows instead of upgrading it? I was quite surprised to see MS charging windows 8 basic upgrade users $70, kind of cheesy IMO.

Interesting, on Lenovo's site the 367927U got updated to be "stocked in distribution" status.

I haven't tried upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro using the $40 upgrade. I assume to avoid the additional $30 cost you would need to install the release preview (or windows 7) and then buy the upgrade before reinstalling the drivers etc from Lenovo. An annoying hoop to jump through because of MS' bizarre pricing structure.

This drivers are already up on the Lenovo support site.

The ability to charge using the mini-usb is confirmed by the user guide on the Lenovo support website. Looks like it only charges when the display is off.

Is charging by usb much slower than the regular one?

In Sweden they charge the equivalens of $910 for the cheapest model of TPT2, and that's even without the keyboard.

Where did you order it from, and was it a pre order or did they actually have it in stock?

I back-ordered it from PCCanada. They have 17th Dec for ETA.

I've never ordered from PCCanada before, I usually use NCIX. Have you had good experiences with them before?

Do you know what/if their restocking fee is?

I might need to back order one too!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the estimated ship date on the TPT2 just went from Dec 31 to Jan 31st on the MS Store. Given that it's exactly a month further out I doubt this is due to stock running out. Shoot. Am I getting a 500T after all? On a positive note, we should be seeing some unboxing vids from our friends in NZ and AU if the Dec 10 ship date is true.

Well I guess this latest delay finally did it for me, because I seem to be typing this with an Ativ 500T at a Starbucks next to Office Depot. If MS somehow ships the TPT before the end of my return window I might still switch, but honestly the 500T is a very nice device.
