The Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Graphics dock is on sale for $280, down from its list price of $400. Great deal if you want some more graphics power. It features an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB DDR5 memory. This is the same card as in the Surface Book 2 15", but with double the memory. Downside: no USB ports on the back, no passthrough TB3, card not upgradable.

Note: this dock still is only officially supported for the Lenovo 720S for some odd reason, but people have successfully used it on various X1 series devices (X1 Carbon, X1 Yoga) that have a TB3 port, and possibly on other devices as well. I can confirm it works on an X1Y3.

Edit: as of today (July 24 2018) the sale has ended, sorry guys!

Edit 2: August 2, the sale is back! Get it while you can.

Edit 3: August 10, the sale has ended again..

    From the NotebookCheck article:

"From our short time with the Lenovo dock, we can confirm that it is only designed to work on the 13-inch Ideapad 720S for now via a very short (~2 ft) Thunderbolt 3 cable. Connecting to ThinkPads and other notebooks may result in a blank screen."
Still a great deal for 720S owners.

That's an older article. Since then people have successfully used it with the 2nd gen X1 Yoga and the X1 Carbon 6th gen, see for example the few Amazon reviews. I fully expect it to work with my X1 Yoga 3rd gen as well, which is why I hit the "buy" button. :)

@southdunes the $280 deal is back right now. Better jump on it if you still want one, no idea how long it will last.

This might be a good combo to go the route of a 2nd gen X1 Yoga or 920 plus this.

For some reason I'm still enamored by the HP Zbook X2, which would have the dGPU in the machine. I'd still need a TB3 dock to drive my desktop set-up though. Most of my work is CPU intensive, and I don't really game.

    Decisions.

The party is over, the sale has ended again. I'll post back if I happen to notice that it's back on. If you want the graphics dock it's probably a good idea to regularly check the product page.
