I don’t think so. As I see it, it could have been an update (take a wile but you can normally see the % loaded written down so maybe a display bug) or a power saving mode to force plugging.

I saw a TP10 on ebay.co.uk at 179€ 1 month ago. But it was refurbished and without pen support. Are you sure it is not the same officially refurbished to explain the price ? Anyway congrat.

it was new, its all working again. it just went blank during the update screen but now everything is OK. The button I thought was to switch external display is in fact the NFC logo.

Question: I bought my TP10 used and the previous owner had deleted the recover partition and re-installed Windows 8.1. Because of this, I'd like to do a complete format and install to remove any remnants using a generic OEM recovery usb drive. My concern is for the Windows product key. The PO said when he installed his version it pulled It from the system, but the seller I'm looking to buy from seems to think that unlikely; he seems to have a poor grasp of UEFI. Will this work or not? And the seller included the original box and all documentation, could the product key be in there somewhere?

I dunno, but I bet it will be Cherrytrail. Core M is reserved for the Helix 2.
