In reference to your other note, I would not be surprised if there are handwritten comments/initials/whatever on some of the new parts in your machine too. This seems like common practice, probably initials of the person who tested or inspected the part.

There are two suppliers of ThinkPad X61 keyboards -- Chicony and NMB -- you probably got the other vendor's keyboard.

Hmm.. I might try to get my KB replaced.. mine has a few keys that have a "crunchy", squeaky feel to them (backspace key, right arrow key)

Overall i am not satisfied with the build quality in general of this x61T. I hope apple comes out with a kickass tablet and has killer quality.

I don't know about other tablets, but it seems as though OEMs are skimping on the quality these days.

    They send out refurbished HDDs?
That is a serious concern and they definitely SHOULD NOT DO THAT.
It would be possible to recover data from that disk that might be sensitive.
Can you confirm that they do this???

Maybe the HDDs are securely erased before being sent back out.

Do you think it's possible to recover any data from a formatted HDD after it's been loaded with a new OS? I doubt.
