Same thing here - when I move the display back and forth (in notebook mode) it does this.
I agree - I think it is just a design flaw. I doubt sending the unit in would accomplish anything.

I'm not going to call Lenovo about this because I'm not that concerned. I knew when I saw it that it was probably a design flaw and because other people are having the same issue I believe this even more so.

You basically summed up my thoughts on the issue. I'm not going to have it serviced until if/when the gap is permanent and doesn't appear only when stressed.

What type of glue do you think they are using? Looks like rubber glue. Hmmm... thinking of what I'm thinking?

My gap is about the same size as the picture. When I press on it seems to stick for abit. Was thinking of glueing. I might just rma it & get a new one.

Can someone do a poll to see how many have this problem? I might just end up w/ the same issue or worse.

I'll still get a Lenovo X61. Its toosexy.

Has anyone contacted Lenovo about this problem? If so, what was the response?

I called and asked about the problem and all they told me was that they would send me a box so I could "have the problem fixed". When I asked what would actually be done to fix the problem their response was to replace the entire LCD. Unless they address the specific glue issue I find it useless to send back my brand new computer so that the same problem can happen again.

Not much I could do about accepting it, it was shipped UPS from China. I'm waiting to see what others have heard back. I have owned other laptops with similar issues from other manufacturers and nothing was done to correct the design flaws.
