Scenario: x61t with hybrid sleep off, user turns on 'Beep until Hibernate is complete' in global power options under Lenovo power management.

Problem: Computer hibernates, system beeps. Upon reboot the little clicks you are used to hearing from IE7 (when clicking links or reloading pages), these clicks have been replaced by the clicks used for the hibernate function. So the standard windows IE7 sound is gone and now it is replaced by the system speaker sound.

Repair techniques: Turned off 'Beep until hibernate', rebooted.

Biggest problem: Computer sound is normal upon startup but if the computer hibernates, once it comes out the sounds are broken again.

    Suggestions:?

Any other threads about this? What should I search for?

It makes me think I should have bought something else. :(

    Thanks for your help,
Thresher 'sad in Kauai' x61t User.

I went into the Vista control panel and looked at my sounds. The IE sound when played is still referenced as the real Windows sound but when I press play it plays the sound and this lenvovo speaker crackle.

That's a weird one... you may want to check if your BIOS is up to date, or may want to restore your computer to a previous date as it may be the registry was changed by that setting but not set back correctly when you disabled it.
