Wow... iOS is now just a hair away from perfect for me and that is saying a ton. I can set all my default apps. Goodbye Safari and Mail, hello Edge and Outlook. And I can pin message groups to bury other group messages (Android had this for ages; long overdue!). I can also watch my video and video chats in the background while I browse. Oh, and CarPlay lets me add a slick looking wallpaper. If iOS lets me install third party apps outside of the App Store, I will be a fan. But the default apps will a huge change—something long overdue that should have gotten Apple smacked with antitrust violation fines against iOS like Microsoft had happened years prior with Windows. Now that is fixed, man, I’m loving it!

So far, so good for me...

(Makes sure no one is looking and then knocks on wood...)

Yep, like @Steve S, knock on wood. No bugs yet. I expected to see problems since they shafted devs and only gave them one day of testing with the GM (who the heck does that anyway?).

I try to wait for at least two or three updates, just to be (relatively) safe. Holding at 13.7 for now.

    Tentative avatar change. Reasons:

    * The 5-month motorcycle tour ends Monday
    * Penguin for switch to Linux
    * Pop! penguin figurine ‘cause Pop!_OS is my Linux distro of choice (no relation except the name AFAIK)
    * Prepared to take notes... no explanation necessary.

Wow, a lot of thought went into that! You're lucky someone noticed. A while (years?) ago I went from "Miffy Orange with a letter", to "Miffy dark blue holding an ostensibly glowing rectangle". Not a single person noticed. Still worth it: given the amount I post, this way not every page is plastered with bright orange avatars. :)

Speaking of which, if I ever get the Duo, you'll know because my avatar would change to this:

I had my new X1 Extreme sent to me on the road and the last time I hit a motel I installed Pop!_OS (by System76, a Linux laptop/desktop company in Denver). EVERYTHING except the fingerprint reader worked perfectly out of the box, even the Wacom AES pen and trackpoint.

[a little perspective distortion because they’re iPhone photos, not screenshots]

HiDPI was beautiful and the 4k OLED screen set to 200% by default—this Linux distribution is smart enough to do that. Nvidia drivers upon install (no BS purist objections to proprietary stuff on System76’s end). Steam/Proton one-click install. Played a Windows-only game all evening.

Never opened the Terminal. Not once.

I think it’ll work this time. Last attempt was circa 2005 when Ubuntu hit the scene. I made it six months till game yearning prompted a switch back to Windows.
