You beat me to it. They're not all the same: the Ztotop & a couple others have the a Pencil slot on the inside spine edge (left), not a loop on the outside edge (right) where it can possibly get knocked out or damaged. That kind of protection and loss prevention is much of what a silo gives me. I might not even be considering the mini 5 if not for this cover.

Sorry for not being clear - the "same" case seems to be sold under a number of brand names. I'm 100% with @dellaster - the ZtoTop design nearly gives you the silo experience in a very slim and lightweight solution.

The slot where the pen goes- there is no magnetic or adhesive force to that right? I'm assuming the pen will only stay in when the cover is closed

Someone who has one can correct me if I'm wrong, the Pencil fits snugly and won't fall out by itself. There's a hole through the case behind the Pencil where your finger can push it out of the slot.

Since a lot of you are fans of the "pen cubby" (as am I ;)), have you guys checked out the ZAGG Slim Go?

It's got a hinged kickstand, which I haven't seen on other slim cases:

I saw that way back at CES. I've never used Zagg stuff though. How's the reliability? Most of the 3rd party stuff for the iPads are highly variable except for Logitech's stuff in my experience.

I've always had good luck with Zagg and Logitech - sometimes the Zagg are a little more fragile (thinner plastics) but hold up well. Still have their iPM4 typing folio I had planned to use if I kept the iPM5.

The only problem I had with Zagg are the plastic hinges on the KB cases. They always broke while the KB was still perfectly good. I found a knock-off brand with an aluminum hinge that my daughter has used for the past 3 years on her IPad.

Thanks that's helpful. With our application it would get folded multiple times per day. Hmm'...

It does stay in without any problem since the case material is soft TPU
