I have windows 7 build 7068 (64 bit) installed on my hp/ compaq 2710p, and for some reason it has a 3gb limitation EXACTLY like the 32bit version.

Since a printscreen is worth a thousand words, see below.

NOTE: System manager says only 3gb running, and i have the 64 bit program files folder.

It is interesting. I am curious, though, if this has more to do with an invalid build rather than a true limitation. I 100% doubt that this would be there is the RC or final build.

Very odd. I take it you've confirmed the machine's hardware fully supports more than 3.x GB RAM (the 32-bit limit)?

That 'might' be the issue (long shot though) - sometimes fixed with a bios update and sometimes not fixable.

My tablet is 64 bit capable, and has run windows 7 64 bit with 4gb of ram before.

I hope this is a build issue, but thought i would post it to confuse some people :D

if it worked with a previous win7 build then it'll just be a build issue.

It'd be funny if Microsoft was just messing with you so you don't try to keep using the beta after the final version is released.

For anyone who cares, it was due to a botched installation. Reinstalled that build a little while ago, and it was fixed.

I wonder whether it truly only used 3gb or actually used 4 and displayed 3 usable! :O

System manager reported it was only using 3gb.
