About 2 or 3 times a day, my screen goes black for 5-10s and comes back.

Windows says, Display Driver Intel HD graphics drivers for Windows (8) stopped responding and was successfully recovered.

Any idea why this is happening? This is a Dell Venue 11 Pro (5130).

Happens to me every day too. Just been too lazy to search here to see if anyone else gets it and if it's been resolved. It's annoying though because it also crashes firefox when it happens.

(Un)fortunately, mine also stopped charging via micro-usb after 2 months, (but still charged via the keyboard battery), so I have returned the whole glitchy machine itself.

Would still be interested in how this problem can be tackled.

Are you guys on DV8 or DV11? On my DV11, I had to manually install latest intel display driver from their download page and it solved the driver crash issue.

    Which driver did you use?

I tried the generic Intel HD Graphics driver from
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Se... Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000

and the installer said that it couldn't find the right hardware.

    Thanks!

Odd -- so where did @next_millenium get his drivers from?

Installed the new Intel Chipset drivers on Dell's site dated 1/28/2014 and still got a graphics driver crash.

    This is pretty irritating.

From another manufacture's website. Acer, lenovo and toshiba all have tablets with similar hardware. The graphics driver is included in the platform chipset package. May or may not be generic, as some manufactures tweak intel's drivers.

Anyone else having this problem, or know of a fix?

I did a clean restore a week ago and now the display driver is crashing on average once an hour.

    This is really stupid.

I found Atom based display drivers on Intel's site but they are not newer than Dell's.

And everything is working on the DV8P with the Lenovo driver?

I have never seen this on my Venue 8 Pro. I'm on driver 10.18.10.3349 from Dell. System BIOS A05.

Well, I gave in and picked up one of those $150 Acer C720 Chromebooks.

It does 95% of what I need a laptop to do, at 25% of the price, and none of the annoyances.

    I can turn tap-to-click off.
It doesn't drain battery power while on standby.
The screen doesn't black out every few hours.

I will probably keep my DV11P for when I really must have non-connected mobile Office, but this is the very last time I buy Dell.

What terrible service and QC. I can understand rushing a product out, but these problems really have to be fixed.

I'll push this up to our graphics team again to see if we have a solution with a Dell tested driver.

    Thx.
