    Hi,

I too am looking for the perfect tablet. This might not be possible, but this is what I want......

    Good Battery Life (3min)
    60gig hard drive
    optical storage
    cd-rw/dvd (if possible dvd burner)
    firewire
    fingerprint ID
LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! something around 4lbs or less :)
    Pretty fast cpu with centrino
    etc...

I will mainly use my table for school: taking notes, writing papers..
surfing the net.. downloading music. I do a little desktop publishing ...

I also travel a lot! To meeting and such where I would have to carry my computer with me.. I don't want to loose my arm carrying my tablet or burning my arm either. This is a lot to ask for, but I'm sure there is something out there for me... CAN ANYBODY HELP?

I would go with the IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad X41 and opt for an (external optical drive). You are going to have a hard time finding a machine that light with a built-in optical drive. I do believe Fujitsu will have something along those lines in the near future.

Thanks for your help!!! There are so many products out there and cnet rarely gives clear advice on what to purchase. I am trying to buy my tablet on a monthly plan ( don't have $18??.00 on hand). Do you know of any internet companies that have a buy now, pay later program with a low cost?

TigerDirect.com has the "Bill me Later" option through Chase Manhattan Bank. Look at the bottom of their main page for details.
