I unboxed the slate yesterday when I recieved it, started it up and did let it go through the "initialization process" that comes with all new pc. It did go halfways through before turning off (I didn't realise that I needed to have the power adaptor in during this, the battery must have lasted about 3-5 minutes) Once pluged in and rebooted I got a message over and over again. That it didn't finish the initialization process and I needed to reboot (which created a indefinite chain of rebooting). It didn't matter if I chose options like safe mode etc. So, I created a recovery boot USB from the Recovery DVD's supplied. Started it up with the recovery USB, went through the whole process of initializing.. everything looked to work properly in windows except using a pen as a input device. I downloaded all the latest drivers from the ASUS webpage and tried to install. When I tried to install the Wacom ISD_DualTouch_V7.0.2-21 one, it came up with an error "A supported tablet was not found on the system".
I've tried the pen that came with the SLATE as well as Axitron Penabled Pens.. none of them work.

Any help that will make the PEN actually work on the device would greatly be appreciated :)

    Kind regards,
    Micha

"A supported tablet was not found on the system".

That mean you was trying to install some different drivers.... uninstall all.
I suggest to unistall driver also (after that windows should install usb pen v 1.0).

And after that install mentioned ep 121 drivers.

    Btw. Install as administrator.

Try read the post clean install first...and then the pen post.

The manual does state to charge the device for 8 hours on first charge before using I believe. If you haven't already done this, suggest you do it now.

Well I did read the clean install post (Clean Installing Windows on the EP121 Asus EP121 Slate PC Unofficial Blog) and as I mentioned I was more or less forced to do a clean install due to the failed initialization process. So after doing the clean install from the Asus recovery DVDs it should give me a fully working slate with factory settings, right? Well apparently not. (Finger touch yes, pen scribbling no)
I will give windows update a go though since I haven't done any updates what so ever and will see if that will sort things out.

I haven't installed any drivers what so ever that isn't from ASUS webpage.

I also read the pen post (http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/ep121-slate/40666-wacom-enhanced-driver-penable-device-11.html) which on page 11 states that the latest Wacom ISD_DualTouch_V7.0.2-21 drivers should sort out things with pen pressure, mapping multiple buttons on penabled pens etc. and there is no need to install various other drivers. I downloaded the wacom isd ... from Asus/ep121 homepage. I've downloaded the file from multiple computers in case it would have been corrupt. I know the file isn't corrupt, but still whenever I try to install it gives me a message "A supported tablet was not found on the system".

    hmm...

    @ coldpenguin
I had a look at the Haralds thread, he seemed to have the pen device working but it wasn't working correctly with the pressure sensitivity? My problem is that I can't use any of the pens at all (the asus supplied one, or axitron ones), they don't register at all and this is from scratch (installing through the recovery dvds) with no extra drivers installed. Harald also mentioned that he couldn't get the calibration to work. Oddly enough I can get the calibration thing to work but I can't use the pens, so I'll have to use my fingers as an input device.

From Haralds list, how the following behaves on my slate:

    1) EXC7700_FW_V1213 (doesn't install due to the current firmware is newer)
    2) ISD_DualTouch_702-21 (doesn't want to install due to "A supported tablet was not found on the system")
    3) Touch_Panel (Installs, but the comp needs rebooting)
    4) Wacom_Pen (don't know if this one installs or not, because at the end of the installation process a window pops up with a exclamation mark and one button, hitting that button will make the window dissapear)

    @ CF77
I don't have "wacom isd pen" in program and files, so I can't uninstall it...

Will take a few screengrabs... and put up.

No, Harold was getting the same problem as you, but in French.
You are looking to remove/delete the driver from device manager not programs.

I meant the device manager ;)

I've uploaded a few screen grabs:

Also I've tried to delete the hid devices, after a certain one (they all are called the same.. so becomes a bit tricky to know which one it is) the slate wont recognize the touch input or attached usb mouse and I have to restart the machine to be able to work with it. I've also tried to uninstall the eeti multitouch, however that one wants to restart the machine and when you let it, it pops back up after restart.

    Best,
    Micha
