What exactly did you guys do that had problems with Pivot, touchkit and the HP rotate button do to fix the problem?
I have tried everything I read on this post from uninstalling quickplay, the button driver, touchkit and pivot then reinstalling all touchkit, pivot, button drivers, then finally quickplay. My screen still will not rotate with the button and when using the pivot rotating from the taskbar the calibration is off....
    Thanks

I want to thank arvean, leepriestenator and all the others for your fantastic job! I recently purchased a TX1000 on ebay and wasn't disapointed with that little gem's performance, especially AFTER I successfully downgraded to XP :D One thing tho : I thought the fan would get less noisy because of the less ressource demanding OS... Oh well, I guess we're stuck with it :(

What version of the Pivot you were using? The newer version won't work

I'm always an advocate of removing the back cover of a laptop and cleaning out the heat sink/fan. Especially on a laptop you buy on EBay... you never know if the last owner decided to turn it on, then let it run in the dustiest corner of his dorm room. My current M4, and previous Portege 3500 (both ebay purchases BTW) were NASTY on the inside. The portege had about one mm of dust built up on the heatsink (significant if you're talking about air flow). Not only will you get a nice clean laptop that runs cooler, it will give you a working knowledge of disassembly/reassembly procedures so you can do your own repairs instead of paying some 19 year old $75/hr to do a simple repair.

Oh thanks, TabbedOut, but the one I bought was pristine and came from a sealed box. I should have mentionned it :) I owned a DV2000 for a few months and the fan was very quiet when the processor wasn't working hard. I figured it would be the same with the TX1000. I've read the reviews and was familiar with the con, but foolishly hoped XP would improve the noise...

    Ncosper,

Make sure you have the correct quick launch spec in the Device Manager, the driver and the driver details as shown attached.. also make sure that the driver is in the specified folder.. if they are missing or of incorrect version, try to find the correct driver

The next resort is to uninstall the software, quick launch and the pivot and re-install... if that fails too, the last resort is to uninstall the softwares again, this time, make a system restore point first... gain access into Registry by start/run/regedit and remove all related and relevant registry associated with quick launch and Pivot driver, Pivot.sys etc etc... restart and then re-install Pivot and quick launch again.. in the event that you cannot restart because you have delete the essential registry details.. just get to restore to the working configuration and retry again...

If all the above were to fail... look like a clean XP reinstallation will be the answer...
