Currently looking for a replacement for my aging Acer W700 i3.

Primary usage would mainly be for work, which will involve e-mail, word processing, taking notes, bit of coding if I need to do Windows specific stuff.
Secondary usage would be for entertainment like light gaming or watching videos while traveling.

I can currently get the core m7 / 8GB RAM / 512GB storage Spectre x2 or a refurbished core m7 /8GB RAM / 256GB storage / UHD screen Latitude 12 for roughly the same price and have come up with a list of pros and cons for both.

    Latitude 12
    Pros:
    - UHD screen and better color reproduction and brightness according to reviews
    - Thunderbolt 3
    - Magnesium alloy chassis, 0.23 lbs lighter than the Spectre x2
    Cons:
    - Tiny 30Wh battery resulting in poor battery life
    - Poor performance even compared to other Core m devices in reviews
    - 16:9 aspect ratio

    Spectre x2
    Pros:
    - Better performance as much as 15 to 20% more according to reviews
    - Better battery life as much as 1.5 to 2 hrs more according to reviews
    - 3:2 aspect ratio
    Cons:
    - No Thunderbolt 3
    - Screen is only WUXGA+
    - Heavier

My concern probably boils down to how will the Spectre x2 with the lower screen resolution and no Thunderbolt 3 support cope for the next 3-4 yrs given that's how long I plan to keep whichever device I get next.

On the other hand The battery life of the Latitude concerns me given the fact that I normally expect my tablet to last for the whole working day and leave my charger at home.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if you can swing the Elite instead of the Spectre you will get the Thunderbolt 3.

Thanks for the suggestion everyone. The Elite x2 is definitely a consideration. The question for me I guess is whether I want to spend an extra $500 for an Elite x2 with comparable specs to the Spectre x2.. Passed on the Miix 700 since it doesn't have USB Type-C or Thunderbolt 3.
