Just the i5 is gone, but if you are lucky you can catch up the i3 in some regions since yesterday.
Gone forever? 8(
Will not ever ever be able to get a core i5 8 MP camera HP pro x2 612?
Release date now postponed to 10/20/2014
You can still configure some i5 4302Y models, which will be shipped with the 8 MP cam by default.
Try the following one (Configurable - HP Pro x2 612 G1 w/Intel i5-4302Y G8W35AV): http://h71016.www7.hp.com/MiddleFra...=3825&BaseId=44946&oi=E9CED&BEID=19701&SBLID=
They really should skip it and release a Core M sucessor. Preferably with 13,3" and a better touchpad.
Hrmm... I've been looking for a replacement for my HPTM2T and I so far like the 612 but I'd like to see it in person. Hopefully it will make it to a retailer or a MS store.
What I'd really like to know if how easy it is to add RAM and change out the HDD. I noticed that when you go to the business site you can choose models with only 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB SSD. Also mentions that there is an on-board option for 4GB or 8GB or RAM but then lists SODIMM RAM modules, two slots total. Could be that we can get 8GB or RAM on-board and expand with the extra two SODIMM or it's all just SODIMM. But, as far as the SDD, I hope it can be replaced. Then we can just buy the base model with the highest proc speed and upgrade ourselves.
Let's say we wait until the device gets cheaper or starts appearing in the outlet.
Are the 8 MP camera versions a limited supply? Will they stop that option later to customize?
Has anyone reviewed the 612 G1 with the Wacom (Bamboo?) Pen3, which is available since 20th of October?
Breaking news: 612 G1 isn't any longer fanless...(page 18)

It will have a m.2 interface for the SSD.

Oh dear, disappointing...
Got the 612 for testing today, but only the cheap version, I3, no digitizer, low resolution of the display 1366.
For me this device is never a Surface Pro 3 killer. The design looks cheap and the angle for the display in the keyboard dock is very limited.
I don't think we will buy a lot of these devices. I will keep my Spectre x2 pro
