I've configured a Gateway M285-E Tablet PC and am trying to find out how well it will perform. I was looking for something that would be great for college in the fall, and would still let me play some of the latest games. Here are the specs, tell me what you think. Thanks alot!

    Gateway M285-E

    Processor: Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 (2.00 GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache)

    Memory: 2048MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2-1024MB modules)

    Video Card: ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 64MB Graphics featuring Avivo™ display technology

Hard Drive: 80GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive

    Optical Drive: Modular 24x/10x/24x CD-RW / 8x DVD combo

That looks like a nice little tablet. The only drawback to the m285-e is the 64mb dedicated video card. I'm gonna wait for the new version of the m4 and Asus R1F to see if I they will offer a little more video memory. Check out http://forum.tabletpcreviewspot.com/showthread.php?t=1938
for a hands on review for the m285 (once Dave gets around to it :) )

w00t. Asus FTW! If they don't have dedicated video I'm going to be pissed. And the FCC docs make it look like it doesn't!

Woper is right though, the 64mb graphics card is what's going to limit your gaming.

Always the case.. the graphics card is always a let down.
Cant they customise it for people who want a better card?

I think that looks like a great Vista ready machine, but why not DVD burner? Definitely go with that option, since its really invaluable in a time of large data files, photos, and music. (Not to mention personal DVD movie copies...)

I don't get it, why don't you just buy a cheap $500 gaming rig to play games and use the tablet for work...
