Is there a way to use the IE Metro browser, the touch one, without having IE set as the default browser?

It seems not to be possible.

    Any way to do it?

    It's not possible by design.

Pretty poor design from Microsoft then.

    Not really though.

Metro apps must all come from the Store, with the exception (presumably due to antitrust fears) being for the browser. However, there needs to be a method in place to prevent all apps from declaring themselves as a browser and bypassing the Store. In order to do so, they only enable a Metro mode for your default browser.

Back when it seemed like Chrome and Firefox were going to take advantage of this, it was great design. The fact that Firefox and Chrome abandoned that can't really be pinned on Microsoft.

It's a poor design by Microsoft, and I don't see how you can blame anyone else. Why should I not be able to start IE Metro just because it's not set as the default browser? There is no technical reason for it.

I want to use Cyberfox as default on the desktop, but occasionally use IE Metro when using as a tablet.
