How much weight does removing the optical drive save?

    On my Fujitsu 4220, it SEEMS like hardly any difference when its removed. But it is definitely lighter.

    i just removed the dvd and weighed it with a digital kitchen scale... 3 7/8 ounces.

    i don't have the blank that goes in the slot when the drive is removed, so i don't know how much it adds back in, but i'd venture a guess you're net savings in only around 3 ounces.

    for comparison, the slice batter weighs 14 7/8 ounces.

    Imo, it's relatively insignificant compared with the weight of the tablet...you'd carry less weight if you didn't take the power brick with you.
