    Got my R1F... first tablet.

First problem: the screen switch button on the slate part of the computer seems to not work

I am unable to customize buttons because I am completely lacking that tab on pen/tablet options

The right click on my pen also seems to not work.

Thanks for any help you can provide; I'm thinking I need to reinstall windows xp tablet, but maybe I'm just missing something silly here.

Seems like your OS image could be corrupted. If you have not installed much yet, it might be well worth it to do a factory restore now, rather than get started fighting issues. If that doesn't work, you will surely need to contact ASUS regarding these issues.

Ditto that - use the hidden partition recovery console - it's fast and easier than formatting and pulling out all the discs. On startup, hit "F9" and recovery to 2 partitions...... it'll format, reinstall windows, and all of the drivers and will start up just like it did when you pulled it out of the box.....

Thanks guys... well, the screen now switches with the button, but I am still lacking the tablet buttons tab on the pen/tablet options. Is there a way to just repair this or is it a flawed OS?

Of course, all I got with the unit is the ASUS recovery DVD, NOT a stand-alone XP tablet disc.

I emailed ASUS about this yesterday and am still waiting for a reply. GRRRR. Annoying. Overall I love this thing, but it needs to work the way it's supposed to work. I don't trust the long-term prospects for a computer that is missing key components on the control panel....

    Thanks again--

I believe that that is the way it comes, my R1 does not have the tablet buttons tab either, in fact, it does not even start the tablet buttons service at all. The buttons that are on the tablet itself are hardwired into the OS in some way such that the rotate will only rotate between two configurations, the ctrl.atl.del will only do that action and the esc will only be esc.

I spoke too soon... my screen no longer rotates.
I am getting a bit pissed at this point. I have to call them for the problem to be addressed and the notebook tech support is closed on the wkend soooo....

Tsukiyomi, any problems with the pen? Another complaint that I have is that sometimes the erase works... two seconds later, nada. Same with the eraser function on journal. It's not behaving reliably. Not sure if I need to update the drivers, but the friggin ASUS website is very non-newbie friendly and I have NO idea what to download. GRRRRRR.

And this IS a wacoam pen (sp?), right? I'd like to get a decent replacement pen; this one is not so great.

    Thanks to all for help.
