Well, we're only one week late from the original expected delivery. According to one news story I saw, HP is selling about a third more laptops than they did this time last year, so they are probably a bit overwhelmed across the board, regardless of the rumors and speculation about defective hardware, delayed delivery of parts, overwhelming sells of the slate, big corporate orders taking precidence over individual orders, etc.

It will come if and when it comes.

Not yet...you in the same boat as about 14,000 other people about now.

Back in the Fall of 2007, HP delayed the release of the iPaq 211 about 3 months. The new model was introduced in August 2007 and went on sale in September...just in time for the holidays, right? Shipment was delayed until the middle of January without any news, emails, official press release, nothing.

Maybe this is because the 211 and the 500 are 'enterprise' models intended for businesses to purchase. They are never impatient like consumers, so who cares when they ship, right?

I have received 5000 Slate 500 this week end.
I have received a mail telling that they want I send them back, but I refuse until they start to sale them also in Europe.
    Sorry for you.

Yea ... HP's sales figures look really impressive everywhere but China.

At the very least, just think how happy your family will be to have Thanksgiving dinner with you and not have you completely transfixed on your new Tablet.

You talkin' about me? YOU TALKIN' ABOUT ME? ;)

I'm sure most of you have already seen this video from 10/22/2010 (Crunchgear):

What's hilarious is the very last question and answer to the remarkable Ms. Hess-Nickles:

Q: It's announced today...is it shipping today as well?

    A: It is shipping today.

I can't help but think that HP did this intentionally...
It's one way to create some hype and publicity

I just called the Small Business unit about my order demanding some information and they claimed that they have just shipped to the first few people who ordered from them, with about 4 weeks delay. If that's true, somebody somewhere should get it any day now.

HP's new marketing strategy ... we have this great tablet but we're not going to let you order it.
