    is this ok,
the C-140xL, meaning 2gb ram, ati videocard with 128dedicated ram, and so on
    base unit 1299, CA tax
with extra 12cell batter for 1399. is that ok?

    yuphehe,

nikecar meant to lower the RAM from 2GB to 1GB for your C-140X customization order, then buy another 1GB 200-pin SODIMM PC2-5300/PC2-5400 667 MHz RAM stick from Newegg and perform an after-market upgrade to save you money.

    Hi yuphehe,

The graphics card and RAM are two completely different peripherals. Regardless, the ATI MR 2300 graphics card will retain its 128MB dedicated VRAM if you were to switch the amount of RAM from 2GB (like you have now) to 1GB of RAM; then perform an after-market (a.k.a the day you receive both Tablet and 1GB RAM from Newegg) upgrade to 2GB total RAM with a 1GB stick of RAM from Newegg - the other already inserted when manufactured at Gateway. :)

JUst be sure that they give you ONE stick of 1 Gig ram, not 2 512 Meg sticks like I had...

It doesn't matter if they give one or two sticks. Prices are so cheap now the whole "Buy 2 identical sticks" won't give you any real noticeable results in your day to day routine.

You can get a 2GB module for under $100, then coupled with the 512MB, you have 2.5GB. Then later one, you can ge anothe 2GB module. the 1GB option, is usually 2x512MB as they've never had the 1 module option.
