eh.....I hope that doesn't happen. Considering how many Penabled Tablets each of those companies have given us over the years, a merger like this will kill the number of future tablet PC offerings we get.

And each one of them uses a different pen tech.

Fujitsu was really the lone holdout on continuing to use Wacoms EMR Pen Tech (aside from Samsung)
Toshiba is starting to transition over the Wacoms Active ES
And VAIO always used N-trig tech.

I mean if it leads to the creation of a Skylake Update to the VAIO Z Canvas with a Wacom EMR Pen.....that would be cool.....but shrinking the Tablet PC Market overall I think would be a bad move.

Wow. Less competition means less innovation. But it also means better penetration.

Right now, Lenovo holds, (according to the article) around 30% of the Japanese market. This merger would supposedly control collectively another 30%. Good.

I'm truly fed up with Lenovo.

Their communications are lousy, their release schedule is lousy, their quality control is lousy, and they've completely ignored the Canadian market; *none* of their stylus Yogas, (of the ones they even bothered to release) have been made available up here, and the ones they have released are still using idiotic screen specs which should never have been adopted in the first place. I've been slowly and painfully coming to the conclusion that China just fundamentally lacks imagination, adaptability and quality accountability in a huge portion of its design and manufacturing sector.

It'll be good to see Japan weigh in. Japanese companies know how to make things properly.

Give China another ten or twenty years, and maybe they'll work out the wrinkles, but for the time being... "Made in Japan" also used to mean, "Junk". Not so today.

I'd be much, much happier still if some Western companies would start building computers again.

I've had only the best experinece with my Thinkpads. Generally very positive. Even have had pretty good warranty service mailing my laptops in over the years. Call center down in the south has been good too. I've got no real gripes against them. Would it be nice if they released their stuff everywhere, and when they did that it would be on time? Yes. But that's pretty small beans by my measure.

@darkmagic I think Sony did use wacom before they went with n-trig. Also, I agree with Steve B sentiments on ThinkPad. IdeaPad support is another story,
