I just bought a Fujitsu T5010 and I love it. It's a little boxy, but it's just what I need for drawing. However, I seem to be having an issue with the stylus. Before I've even touched the screen it'll start drawing and it's really annoying.

Not only that, but I can't select anything with the stylus unless I use the butt end of it (the "eraser"). I'm worried about using it because it won't register it unless I press firmly on the screen, and the last thing I'd like to do is ruin my LCD screen. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Try pulling the nib out and pushing it back in. If that doesn't work, then your stylus is probably defective. Luckily, it should be pretty easy and relatively cheap to replace. If you can't find a Lifebook pen, this thread will point you towards some alternatives that'll also work.
