Best Buy just introduced the Insignia™ - 8" - Intel Atom - 16GB - Model: NS-15MS08 Windows 8.1 tablet under their Insignia house brand. at less then $100US it is bound to attract a following even if only impulse buyers.
It also has WiFi, micro USB, and micro HDMI it looks like it might make an interesting experimental tablet.

    I bought it yesterday.
    It's great.
Same specs as venue 8 pro, IPS screen, says 16gb but really is 32.

Horrible camera and speakers. Has micro HDMI port, normal placed windows button and a rotation lock button.

Highly recommended for the price from me.

Feels high quality but the screen may be plastic not glass

There is a provided 16 gb micro sd card. Maybe that's why it shows up as 32 gb?
How is the picture quality and battery life?

It looks like it has 16gb internal and 16gb card.
Battery life: decent, not amazing, Moby like 5-6 hours of actual use, not sure yet
Screen: looks good to me, decent viewing angles, colors seem good

Now I have to return mine and get a new one, the headphone port was static and volume buttons dint work. I'll report back on weather the new one has problems.

I typed this whole thing on the on screen keyboard, but it does have otg btw, so you can plug in keyboard/mouse to micro USB port with an otg adapter.

Does it really only have 1GB RAM? Can Win 8.1 get away with that?

I didn't see the 1gb of ram. If true then this thing isn't much of a bargain as I originally thought. The Toshiba encore mini 7 with same specs can be had at Microsoft store with a full year Microsoft office ($69) for $119. I think we will start to see a flood of these low budget 1gb ram, 16gb storage, Bing default search Windows 8 machines this coming holiday season.

I guess it does, but it runs everything I have tried perfectly fine

I guess Win 8 is more efficient than I thought.

I have a VivoTab Note 8 with 2GB RAM and an Elitepad 1000 G2 with 4GB RAM and the difference in performance between the two is negligible. And that's with regard to both desktop software and apps.

But I wouldn't have figured one could get away with 1GB RAM in Win8. Good to know.

You should note, this is the only tablet I've owned, but I am a PC enthusiast.
